About Us
ByteBack STL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making electronic recycling accessible, affordable, and locally led.

The idea started when founder Roshan Rao, a high school student at John Burroughs School, noticed drawers full of old phone cords and unused electronics piling up at home. What began as a small effort to set up collection bins at school sparked a larger mission to make responsible recycling easier for the broader community.

ByteBack STL is now laying the groundwork to expand into more schools and neighborhoods across the St. Louis region. By raising funds to support future collection drives and building partnerships with local businesses, our goal is to foster a culture of environmental responsibility through education, outreach, and hands-on community engagement.

As a registered 501(c)(3) public benefit organization, ByteBack STL operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Every dollar raised helps advance our mission to make electronic recycling more available, affordable, and sustainable for everyone.

Join us as we work to reduce waste, protect our environment, and build a cleaner future for St. Louis.

Our Vision
We envision a future where every household in St. Louis can easily recycle electronics, and where protecting the planet is part of everyday life.
Our Commitment
We’re committed to making recycling easier for everyone. Every dollar raised goes toward funding local collection drives and offsetting the cost of recycling larger electronics. As a student-founded nonprofit, we value transparency, accountability, and community partnership ensuring that each effort brings St. Louis closer to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
